Law enforcement attempting to mislead the public in Foley shooting

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - The Earl B. Gilliam Bar Association is concerned with what appears to be an attempt to shift attention from the actions of Coronado Police Officer Aaron Mansker by portraying a negative image of Charger player Steve Foley and his companion, Lisa Marie Gaut. It is disingenuous for law enforcement to provide the media incomplete and perhaps, inaccurate information that promotes a one-sided and potentially misleading picture of the September 3, 2006 shooting of Steve Foley. We urge the public to not be prematurely swayed, but instead, reserve judgment until a full, complete thorough investigation of this incident is completed by county, state and federal authorities.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - The Earl B. Gilliam Bar Association expresses its deepest concerns regarding the Labor Day weekend shooting of Steve Foley by an off-duty Coronado Police Department Officer. As an association of judges, lawyers and law students, we find it shocking and alarming that Mr. Foley was shot three times by an off-duty police officer just steps from Mr. Foley’s home.
